Shipping & Returns Policy
Condition and Description of Vintage Goods
Please note that all of the 80s Kids UK items for sale are preloved, many have been used and some are over 40 years old. This of course means that these vintage items may show signs of age, have marks, manufacturing imperfections, signs of usage and general wear. Vintage condition is not considered damaged or faulty.
I describe every item as best I can and we point out any significant imperfections that have been identified. All dimensions indicated are approximate. I also take professional photographs of every piece so that the buyer can get a good idea of the condition and colours. When viewed on computer screens that are not calibrated or when printed off, the colours may differ from those in real life.
I have researched each item and the descriptions reflect my current knowledge and understanding as enthusiastic seller of vintage and retro, rather than an antiques expert. I do not accept any responsibility for errors in the product descriptions. Where possible and for information only, I have included a photo of the item’s manufacturing marks which are often found on the base of a product.
CARRIER & SHIPPING COSTS
All UK parcels include FREE delivery via Royal Mail 2nd Class. If you require special delivery instructions such as using another carrier, or wanting a sooner or later delivery, I can usually do this (at an extra cost) but please message me BEFORE buying, to avoid any disappointment and the need for a refund if for some reason I can’t help due to factors beyond my control.
We do not currently ship overseas.
PROCESSING AND ESTIMATED SHIPPING TIMES
Most orders will be packed within 2-3 business days and then Royal Mail 2nd Class parcels can take 2-3 days to arrive.
I’ll do my best to meet these shipping estimates, but can’t guarantee them as they may be subject to volume of parcels I have to pack at any one time, and factors beyond my control such as delays with external delivery companies.
Returns & Exchanges
I can offer a 30 day return / refund / cancellation policy if the reason is genuine – ie you have changed your mind, or are not happy with the item once received, or damage has happened to the item during delivery. I do not accept returns on sale items, or provide exchanges.
Firstly, please let me know if you would like a return via an email to email@example.com, as soon as possible after receiving the item. You will then be responsible for sending the item back to me at Rachel’s Vintage & Retro, Herne Cottage, Marsworth Road, Pitstone, Leighton Buzzard, Beds, LU7 9AP and will pay for that postage. I do not provide pre-pad return labels. On receipt of the item, and all checked it is back in the condition it was sent, a refund will be given of the original sale price only. This refund will be via your original method of payment.
If goods are accidentally damaged during delivery, I require photographic evidence of the damage. Then I will consider the evidence and if I feel the claim is genuine, I will refund the original sold price and delivery. I will also inform you if I require the item returned or not (eg if it is beyond reasonable repair and/or will be too expensive to send back), and will pay for that return, but do not provide pre-paid labels (see above).
However, if the damage requires further investigation and / or is not clear from the photos, I will require the item back, then on receipt, will inspect further whether this damage was made during transit, or was there originally. As vintage items are a pre-used product, and some over 50 years old (ie not new by any means), there is bound to be some wear and tear, plus usage marks. As a result I always do my best to photograph and describe any major faults or damage (see condition policy). However despite this, the odd small mark etc could be missed. Useable and satisfactory condition of vintage goods often provokes differing opinions between buyer and seller. I will email you with my decision in this case. This will be whether I felt the item had reasonable vintage wear and tear in the first place as to be expected, or if indeed I missed something major. A goodwill refund of the original item cost will be given in this case, but return postage will not be paid. If I feel the item was likely to have been damaged in transit, I refer back to the paragraph above.
I do not refund items which have been lost due to an incorrect address having been given at point of order. I also do not refund items which have been damaged by yourself during unpacking, dishwashing or microwaving.
If you wish to cancel an order, this can usually be done, again as long as I am notified within 24 hours of the item being paid for and I haven’t already packed for delivery / ordered the courier.
